I’m always on the road and when I travel I will take notice of what other “road warriors” are reading. While waiting in an airport some time back I noticed someone reading Austin Kleon’s Steal Like an Artist and decided to pick up a copy. This led me to his second book, Show Your Work, which I purchased immediately and continue to share with teachers in my professional development workshops. Teacher are problem solvers and many times their ideas never leave the four walls of their classroom. I hope I can provide a bit of valadation and encourage them to “show their work” too.
I purchased the paperback versions and I encourage you to do the same. After reading them place them by the bed or on the coffee table, pick them up from time to time and remind yourself just how awesome you are and how your ideas can add to someone’s budding thoughts. These two books continue to provide encouragement to show/share things that interest me I hope they do the same for you.
My next steps:
Over the past few days I noticed Kleon has a new book, The Steal Like An Artist Journal, subtitled A Notebook for Creative Kleptomaniacs. I plan to carry this journal with me as I travel and for the next month or so jot down ideas and use it’s pages as inspiration for my next project or sprouting idea.
