The project
The St. Augustine History Project is designed to help visitors and residents understand the city beneath the tourism shorthand. It brings together documented history with the experience of physically moving through the places where that history happened.
Place-based routes that connect surviving buildings, landscapes, archaeology, and historical context.
Focused entries on the people, communities, structures, and events that shaped St. Augustine.
Longer explorations for stories that deserve more context than a tour stop can provide.
A different role
St. Augustine has excellent ways to be entertained. The role of this project is different: begin with documented evidence, explain what is known, distinguish interpretation from fact, and let the city itself provide the setting.
